The Old Men in the Park by malta The Old Men in the Park by malta
Hey guys long time no uploads!

So been working on this for a little while now during lunch times and after work, and finally got it finished pretty much in the time for the 50th :) The other half wrote it all and it was super fun to draw up, as a first, proper comic.

Hope you like! A bit nervous submitting it cos really it's a whole other style to how I normally work, experimented a lot with the colours/shading/texturing and still unsure if it all worked out ok in the end!

Nice; I'd be curious to see a sequel. Also, I like how the Doc is so off in own little world he doesn't once question how calmly this guy next to him is accepting his claims of time-travel and world saving.

I'm not a particularly huge Doctor Who fan, but I love the idea here - as I've said many times, you and Oli should be proud. :) Awesome tribute.

Generaly, amazing artwork as ever. Smooth painterly style has a great sense of whimsy that fits the concept. Expressions conveying a lot and--OH MY WORD THAT PIGEON. Glancing at the comments, I am also thoroughly amused that Michelle loved the pigeon as much as I did.

PIGEONS ARE HILARIOUS. Such head bobbing, gormless style...

..My obsession with pigeons aside, very fine work :D

a quick critique.

Sky line in the last panel.
* Twin Tower mid panel, can give bad vibes and the person will not understand why.  A change to something like Singapore(?) twisted towers will work without disrupting everything else.

* Daily Globe's Globe is about 10x too large. However, it is a sub-conscious reminder of who the passerby is.  Realism vs Artistic license, choices are a bitch.

* buildings with larger windows need to be obviously "closer" as the windows are roughly the same size, so the larger ones are on closer buildings. perspective is a bitch.

Absolutely still love it.

You were warned not to get me going...

Seriously, this would be better with the 9th Doctor. Weary, more expressive in the eyes, fate on his shoulders character.  And no silly affectations such as bow ties to remind people that he is not number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ...

This is brilliant. Sorry, that was already said.  It was only the last panel that I caught on that it was one of the incarnations of Doc Who.  I was going for a GLA (god like alien).  Which, now that I said it, almost the same thing.

I blow hot/cold on Doc Who.  Felt that numbers 10 and 11 were too shallow, loved 9.  The 10, and 11 writers seem to be reaching too hard for story arcs.

Man of Steel.  There is a conundrum.  Best when opposite the Dark Knight, frequently insufferable solo.  Recently, way, way, way too caught up with Political Correctness to be of interest.  His appeal was his unshakable belief in a moral code that frequently was considered anachronistic by modern society.  His current Strum und Angst is too easy, after all he is confirming to the gospel of the editorial pages of the New York Times.

Oh man, this is great! Love the little surprise at the end. Also, I like the coloring style a *lot*. So I don't think you should be nervous at all! It came out fantastically and super pro-looking. You should experiment with this style more!!

Very clever idea for a comic.

Although I have not seen any Doctor Who episodes, I know some of the basics (such that he is a non-human being that time travels in a police box).

So what I'm trying to say is that I like this crossover. :)
